Project Description
Kathleen’s Front Entrance
From Frumpy to Fabulous
The original layout of this home consisted of small, boxy rooms. We opened up almost all the walls on the main floor to create a more modern & airy feel. The homeowner is a single mom with two busy boys. We were looking to create a more modern feel but nothing too precocious. The home lacked storage solutions of any kind. The long narrow living room was downsized to create two floor to ceiling closets facing the front entrance hall. You hardly miss the space at all in the living room and now there’s room for all the stuff of life. A custom bench with hooks right inside the door, provides a quick ‘grab and go’ spot for every day items such as backpacks, keys and purses. A small custom cabinet was made for the front foyer area. Tri-colour hexagonal tile was installed in the entrance & hallway in a fun pattern and an organic tradition ties the two materials together.
