Project Description

Mike & Mia’s Family Spaces

This renovation included an addition to the back of a lovely red brick home. The addition consisted of a great room with cathedral ceilings, a mud room (including side entrance) and a basement which included a rec room and a bathroom.

The great room is a beautiful, bright room with glass doors to the backyard. The feature wall was clad in reclaimed barn board and includes a gas fireplace. The 5 panel glass door which leads to the mudroom was painted dark grey. The far wall houses an efficient home office space with open shelves and closed storage. The basement rec room is the domain of the homeowner’s 2 girls, who are keen crafters and model makers. Piles of storage cubbies makes use of the space under the stairs. A large table provides lots of room for creativity. The same barn board used on the wall in the great room was used to craft the door to the old basement which was left unfinished. Pot lights and blonde wood keeps the space looking bright and airy. The room also houses a TV viewing area (not pictured) and a bathroom.
